After handing out the transfer request two weeks ago on August 25, Lionel Messi rescinds his decision and stays with Barcelona.
Messi said he wasn’t content with Barcelona last week. However, he has changed his mind, instead of contending Barca in the court, over his controversial €700million (£630m) release clause. Messi quoted, “I would never go to court against Barca because it is the club I love, which gave me everything since I arrived. It is the club of my life; I have made my life here”.
In an interview with the press Messi also said, “When I communicated my wish to leave the club to my wife and children, it was a brutal drama, the whole family began crying, my children did not want to leave Barcelona, nor did they want to change schools”.
Messi was already back with the Barcelona squad after changing his mind unexpectedly, to prepare for the new season. The club said he was training separately from the rest of the squad because he has to undergo a corona virus test before resuming to train with his teammates.
Messi was also the first to arrive on Monday at the training center of the club and was scheduled to meet for the first time in person with new coach Ronald Koeman. Koeman was not planning on keeping some key players, including Samuel Umtiti, Arturo Vidal and Luis Suárez, a long-time Messi teammate and friend. They also were back to training on Monday.
Messi will now look forward to starting the season under new Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman as the club swings back from a horrific 2019-20 in which they failed to neither win La Liga nor the Champions League or the Copa del Rey final.
